This was a paper written for a class I had on some of the theoretical foundations of new media. We were free to choose any topic we desired for this paper. I chose to analyze the role of simulation for identity construction and attempted to critically engage some of the relevant literature in this respect. Having finished the class, I am no longer sure about the status of this paper. The ideas that I uncovered do intrigue me, although I am not sure how much of this paper could be salvageable for something that would be publishable. Either way, I recognize that to move this forward would require a lot more work.
